Terms of Use
Last updated October 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Lexly for using the Lexly app and Lexly Pro. Please read them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Lexly.
The short version
Use Lexly to learn, for yourself. Your photos and words stay yours.
Lexly’s AI can get things wrong, so check anything that matters.
Pro renews through Apple until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
1. These terms and Apple’s
Lexly is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to it too. These terms add what’s specific to Lexly. If the two disagree, these terms apply, except where Apple’s agreement says otherwise. Apple isn’t responsible for Lexly or for supporting it.
2. Using Lexly
You may use Lexly for your own personal, non-commercial learning. Please don’t:
- Capture or upload anything illegal, or photos of other people you don’t have the right to use.
- Use Lexly to produce harmful, hateful or sexual content.
- Try to get around its limits, overload it, or use it through anything but the app.
- Copy, resell, reverse engineer or build a competing service from Lexly or its output in bulk.
Lexly isn’t directed at children under 13. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, use it with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
3. Your photos and words
What you capture, type and save is yours. You give us permission to process it only as needed to run Lexly, for example to send a small copy of an object to our AI providers so they can name it. Your shelf is stored on your iPhone, and the Privacy Policy explains everything that leaves it.
4. AI-generated cards
Lexly uses AI models to name objects and write their cards. They’re usually right, but they can be wrong, incomplete or oddly phrased. Every card can be edited before you save it. Cards are for learning a language only. Don’t rely on them for anything where a mistake could hurt you, such as identifying food, plants, medicines or hazards, and don’t treat them as professional advice.
5. The free plan and Lexly Pro
- On the free plan you can save up to 5 new words a day that Lexly names for you. The count resets at midnight where you are. Reviewing, your shelf, and cards you write yourself are always free.
- Lexly Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly, that removes the daily limit on new words. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings, or from Settings in Lexly.
- If an offer includes a free trial, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- Apple handles all payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
- To keep Lexly fast and affordable for everyone, both plans have a generous daily fair-use limit on AI requests. Normal learning never comes close to it.
If we change what Pro includes or what it costs, we’ll tell you in advance. Apple will ask for your consent before a price increase where the law requires it.
6. Lexly itself
The app, its design, illustrations and name belong to Lexly and its licensors. These terms don’t give you any rights to them beyond using the app.
We keep improving Lexly, so features may change, and we may stop offering the service. If we ever end Lexly Pro while you’re subscribed, we’ll stop future charges. We can suspend an install that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
7. No guarantees
We work hard to keep Lexly reliable, but it’s provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or right, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for more than what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
8. Ending
You can stop using Lexly at any time by deleting the app, which also deletes your shelf. Cancel Pro separately in your Apple Account settings, or it keeps renewing.
9. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we’ll update the date at the top, and we’ll tell you in the app if the change matters. Using Lexly after a change means you accept the new terms.
